Well if there's anything that can pull me out of my pregnancy induced hiatus from the web, it's this. The engagement of my most wonderful little brother Jacob and his sweet, sweet, girlfriend (fiancé!) Rachel.
I have had zero desire to pick up a camera or write or edit or blog for almost six months. (I hope to maybe expound on this more in a later post, because it has been a really life-changing time). But when these two asked me to take some engagement photos, at various places that held meaning for them, I didn't think twice. Because this moment, this season, has been something I have prayed about for so long….just as long, if not longer, than I prayed about my own future spouse before I met him.
I am what some would call overprotective. A little. And the tall guy above who I said would never overtake me in height doesn't always appreciate that. In fact, suffice it to say that it has been a serious cause of annoyance and frustration in his life for, oh…EVER.
Me becoming a wife and a mom was a godsend to my little brother. He even said in his toast at our wedding that if he knew he could get me off his back so easily, he would have married me off a lot sooner. Thanks Jake.
Nevertheless, we have always been close, and I have always thought he hung the moon. He is almost four years younger than me, but I have looked up to him for as long as I can remember. He is one of the kindest, strongest, most faithful, caring, compassionate people I know, and he has a ton of love to give. I've been praying for so long that the right girl would come along for him to share life with, but he was a lot like me in his twenties….well at least when it came to dating. Neither one of us dated a lot, and we just weren't really that interested in dating just to date. And I am proud of us for that! My parents teased me a lot for never going on dates, and I'm sure they did the same to him. But I think they raised us right! Because we both had an idea that the person God designed for us would come along in His timing. And it has. I have the most wonderful husband in the world, and now he has Rachel…who I know was just handpicked for him too.
Although I, and a friend of Rachel's, were instrumental in them even ever meeting. Now he can NEVER get mad at me for butting in again. :)
Jacob's dog. He's very loved. And he's INCREDIBLY loyal to his owner. He's also a big baby. He was probably barking here because Jacob wasn't paying attention to him.
Jake wanted some pictures here...where he met Rachel for their first date. This was where she was sitting, reading a magazine, when he met her for their first time. Sweet, huh?
